Why is my Facebook account still 'temporarily unavailable'?

It says my account is temporarily unavailable due to site maintenance and that I should be able to log back on within a few minutes. Thing is, it's been saying that for several hours now. I've looked up how to fix it and it seems nothing can be done. I've also emailed Facebook about the problem. They have yet to respond. Several of my friends have also tried to view my page and were unable to. Please help, I communicate with teachers and peers for various school activities, as well as family and this is hindering my ability to do anything. I can't even create a new account and when i click the 'Help' link at the bottom of the page, it doesn't do anything, it just keeps me on the same page with the message. Please help!
