Why is my key stuck in my 2005 cobalt?

I have a 2005 chevy cobalt and my key gets stuck in the acc position. i have to slam my shifter forward up to the P spot a few times to get the ignition to release my key. it is the factory key and ignition, dk if that makes a difference. what could be wrong and how much does something like this cost??
